2 NBA Teams Could Emerge As Potential Suitors For Ja Morant

It seems like things are going well for Ja Morant and his Memphis Grizzlies.

Morant hasn’t been shy about hiding his current unhappiness with the team, and it seems like he could be leaving Memphis before the trade deadline or in the offseason.

If he does decide it’s time to cut ties with the Grizzlies, a couple of teams could be in contention for him, according to Sam Amick of The Athletic.

“As for where this is all headed, it’s worth remembering that Morant is still just 26 years old. At his best, he’s a player who was in the running for ‘face of the league’ honors not too long ago. His baggage has been well chronicled, but there is still no shortage of teams that will continue monitoring his situation. The Minnesota Timberwolves, per a team source, are one. Ditto for the Sacramento Kings,” Amick wrote.

There is a chance that the Grizzlies and Morant patch things up and have a productive rest of the season.

But that doesn’t feel likely, at least not presently.

It’ll require a lot of work, and it isn’t clear if Morant wants to put in the effort.

He might choose to instead move to another team, and it sounds like he has options.

The Timberwolves and Kings would be able to give him a fresh start, but a change of scenery wouldn’t guarantee a return to Morant’s vintage self.

It’s been several years since he’s been an All-Star or considered one of the best young talents in the league.

Off-court mistakes and bad injuries have prevented him from being a shining star, and leaving Memphis might not solve all of his problems.
