The first injury report of the week for the Seattle Seahawks seems indicative of why they made a trade Tuesday for wide receiver Rashid Shaheed.
What NFL insiders said about Seattle Seahawks’ Shaheed trade
That’s because if any one thing stands out from Wednesday’s injury report, it’s how many receivers were listed as “Did Not Participate” for the day’s practice – three, to be exact.
Veteran wideout Cooper Kupp was a DNP with hamstring and heel injuries, as were Dareke Young (quad) and Jake Bobo (calf).
That being said, Wednesday’s practice was a walkthough, so the injury report was an estimation.
Kupp, Young and Bobo were all inactive with their injuries for Sunday’s win over the Washington Commanders.
Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald said during a press conference Wednesday that Kupp wanted to play Sunday.
“It was the best thing for him not to,” Macdonald said. “I mean, the guy’s a stud. He’s going to do everything possible to play and it’s up to us to make the best decision for him and for the team.”
One other Seahawks player was listed as a DNP on Wednesday: cornerback Josh Jobe, who suffered a concussion Sunday.
Perhaps the best news for Seattle is that linebacker Ernest Jones IV was listed as limited for Wednesday, three days after suffering a knee injury at Washington. Also limited was tight end A.J. Barner, who has a calf issue.
Four players were listed as full participants with injuries: tight end Elijah Arroyo (elbow), guard Christian Haynes (pectoral), defensive tackle Jarran Reed (wrist) and receiver Tory Horton (groin).
The 6-2 Seahawks will host the 3-5 Arizona Cardinals at 1:05 p.m. Sunday, with radio coverage on Seattle Sports beginning at 10 a.m. with the pregame show.
