Cooper Flagg Has Honest Admission About Mavericks’ Early Struggles

After the wild year they had, expectations for the Dallas Mavericks were mixed before starting this season.

But everyone was excited to see how incoming rookie Cooper Flagg could help, and many thought the team would do much better than some had predicted.

So far, the Mavericks have struggled, and they currently hold a 2-6 record, which makes them tied for the worst team in the West.

Speaking to the press, Flagg was honest about the disappointment he feels about losing, but he knows the season is still very young.

“For me, it’s the most I’ve lost since, I think ever. It’s obviously a lot different when you have to adapt to playing a lot more games. I wouldn’t say anybody’s happy. Obviously guys are trying to stay level-headed and know we have a lot more games to go and it’s still really early. Speaking personally, I know it’s not fun to just keep losing games,” Flagg said, via Mike Curtis.

Asked Cooper Flagg how he's handling the disappointing start:

"For me, it's the most I've lost since, I think ever. It's obviously a lot different when you have to adapt to playing a lot more games…I wouldn't say anybody's happy. Obviously guys are trying to stay level-headed…

For his part, Flagg has put up an average of 14.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 2.8 assists on 39.4 percent from the field during those eight games.

To some, he’s performing exactly like people had hoped, while others are hoping to see more from him.

Flagg entered the league as one of the most exciting rookies in years, so the hopes around him were astronomically high.

There is no doubt that this Mavericks team is just not delivering, at least not right now.

There are a lot of great pieces on the team, such as Flagg, Anthony Davis, Dereck Lively II, and others.

But these pieces haven’t come together correctly to form a cohesive unit that is capable on both ends of the court.

Flagg is not happy with the current state of his team, and there is no fun in losing, but he is certain that things can change soon.
