Cardinals Quarterback Kyler Murray to Miss Significant Time After Injury Setback

After suffering a lingering foot injury, Kyle Murray missed three straight games already, though he returned to the Titans games right after the setback. It seems like Cardinals’ fans need to wait one more month to see their quarterback back on the field.

The Arizona Cardinals dropped a hammer Wednesday afternoon when they placed their franchise signal-caller on injured reserve. This move guarantees Murray will miss at least four more games, with his earliest possible return coming December 7 against the Los Angeles Rams.

Cardinals Head Coach Drops Bombshell on Kyler Murray’s Future

Murray injured his foot during Arizona’s win over the Tennessee Titans and initially went through an IR test. However, after weeks of uncertainty and limited practice participation, the organization made the obvious move, pulling the trigger on a roster change that shifts their entire offensive game plan for the next month.

Head coach Jonathan Gannon didn’t mince words when he shared the news. “Kyler’s going to go on IR. I feel like that’s the best thing for him and for us,” Gannon said. “He’s not fully healthy, ready to go yet. So, that makes the most sense.”

For weeks, the second-year coach insisted Murray would return as the starter once he was healthy. But after naming backup Jacoby Brissett the starter on Tuesday, the locker room’s current condition became clear by Wednesday morning.

“Obviously that’s a change, but we just felt, looking at it right now, that’s the best thing for him and us, like I just said,” Gannon explained.

“He’s fully committed. Right now, what he’s going to focus on is getting healthy. He’s not healthy enough to play. He needs to get healthy, so he can get back to playing football,” he added.

When asked about Murray’s chances of suiting up again this season, Gannon expressed cautious optimism. “I really do,” he said. “We got a lot of ball to play.”

ESPN reporters share the clear picture of the 28-year-old’s possible return, reporting that he now will miss a minimum of four games. In the meantime, backup quarterback Jacoby Brissett continues his show, and quite frankly, he is doing the job quite perfectly.

The veteran led Arizona to a primetime upset over Dallas on Monday night, ending a five-game losing streak. He’ll start again Sunday against Seattle and likely remain on the task for now.
