Matty Cash commented on his development with Aston Villa.
The right back signed for the club in 2020 as he switched from Nottingham Forest. He recently put pen to paper for a new deal with the Villans as he continues to enjoy working under Unai Emery.
After a slow start to the season, he signalled that the team have finally found their feet again.
“I think, obviously, we started poorly and then we've been picking up good results away from home, at home, creating a lot of chances. I'm sure over the past few years you can see how many goals that we have scored and all the chances we've created and we're starting to show that now, I think.
“It's football, it can be tough to put the ball in the back of the net, but we just have to keep working on the training pitch to do it. We have players in the forward positions who are unbelievable and have got a lot of numbers over the last few seasons, so there's no doubt. If I can add in, then even better.
“It's been really positive at the minute, hopefully we can continue. I feel at home, but you can never be too comfortable in football, you always have to have objectives and goals you want to achieve.
“I think over the last few years, it's something I've been working on. I've had chats with the manager about controlling emotions and, in big games, you have to do that because football isn't always about being a good player, you have to be really strong minded and you have to be mentally, really good.
“We're all human, we all have feelings. Sometimes you read criticism and our job is to focus on the pitch and be demanding of ourselves every day to get better. Everyone has opinions and whatever the opinion is, good or bad, you have to take it on the chin . You have to try and get better and be good.
“I'm delighted to be playing well, but as I said then, you can't be too comfortable. I'm a player who wants to be better all the time, every day, I want to achieve goals with the club. I want to try and do the best I can. We're all humans, we all have feelings and, as I said, it's good to be in good form.”
