If there was one name behind FC Barcelona’s return to dominance in Spanish football, it is Hansi Flick, the man who masterminded a turnaround season for the Catalans.

Now, Flick’s efforts have been rewarded as the German has been officially nominated for “The Best” FIFA Men’s Coach Award for 2025.

The nomination comes after a spectacular debut season at the club, in which Flick guided the Blaugrana to a clean sweep of all domestic trophies.

In his first year, he transformed Barcelona into a dominant force, securing the La Liga title, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Supercopa.

This domestic treble, built on an aggressive and high-pressing style, also saw the team reach the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Flick’s success has re-established Barça as the top team in Spain and earned him his place among the world’s elite coaches.

Flick is one of seven nominees for the prestigious award and faces strong competition from across Europe.

The list includes former Barça boss Luis Enrique, who is nominated after leading Paris Saint-Germain to their first-ever UEFA Champions League title alongside a domestic treble of their own.

From the Premier League, Mikel Arteta (Arsenal), Enzo Maresca (Chelsea), and Arne Slot (Liverpool) are all nominated.

The final two nominees are Javier Aguirre, who was recognised for his continued success with RCD Mallorca, and Roberto Martinez, who is nominated for his work with the Portuguese national team, which included a flawless Euro 2024 qualification run.

Flick’s nomination is also complemented by three Barcelona players also finding themselves nominated for the Best Player award category, in the form of Pedri, Raphinha and Lamine Yamal. An excellent day at the office for the Blaugrana.
