Week 10 will see the debut of one of the NFL’s premier defensive stars on his new team.

Ahead of Tuesday’s trade deadline, the New York Jets sent shockwaves through the NFL by trading cornerback Sauce Gardner to the Indianapolis Colts for two first-round picks and wide receiver Adonai Mitchell.

Gardner, who became the highest-paid cornerback in the NFL after signing a four-year, $120.4 million contract extension this offseason, will hope to snap an unwanted streak when he suits up for his new team.

The 2022 Defensive Rookie of the Year has just one interception in his last 46 games dating back to Week 9 of his rookie year, and is yet to record one during the 2025 season.

Odds have been released for Gardner to break this slump. The new Indianapolis cornerback is +350 to record two or more interceptions between now and the end of the regular season, and +1500 to have three picks.

Gardner will have his first chance to break this duck on Sunday when the Colts face off against the Atlanta Falcons in Berlin.

Originally ruled questionable to play, Gardner passed concussion protocol on Thursday and will be active for the game.

The new Colt is +700 to record an interception against Atlanta in Week 10.

While a lack of interceptions is not indicative of a defensive back’s overall performance, it is uncommon for a player of Gardner’s caliber, especially one who recently signed the most lucrative contract of all time for a DB, to go this long without picking off the opposing quarterback.

During the 46-game span in which Gardner has recorded one pick, which came in 2024 Week 15, Detroit Lions safety Kerby Joseph has 18 interceptions, the most of any NFL player.

In total, 20 different players have at least eight interceptions in that time frame.

In the 2025 season, 37 different players have at least two interceptions, led by Chicago Bears duo Kevin Byard III and Tremaine Edmunds and Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Devin Lloyd, who each have four.

Whether he finally breaks his unwanted streak or not, Gardner should play a big role in the Colts secondary as the team looks to continue its red-hot 7-2 start into the second half of the season.
