The football world was left in shock as the news of the Dallas Cowboys’ defensive end Marshawn Kneeland’s death was announced on Thursday.
After hearing the devastating news, Dak Prescott’s wife, Sarah Jane, took to Instagram to send her respect for the Cowboys DE and his family while mourning the loss of the young life.

“Devastating. Please lift this family and community with love and prayers. Rest in peace, Marshawn,” Sarah wrote on her story while sharing the Cowboys’ statement on Kneeland’s death that said:
“It is with extreme sadness that the Dallas Cowboys share that Marshawn Kneeland tragically passed away this morning. Marshawn was a beloved teammate and member of our organization. Our thoughts and prayers regarding Marshawn are with his girlfriend Catalina and his family,” the team said in a statement.

The Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson also paid a tribute on his Instagram story and sent a message to Kneeland saying, “Love you, brother.”
In his rookie year, Kneeland made appearances in 11 games and started one while missing 6 due to injury.
Kneeland made the first touchdown of his career on Monday against the Arizona Cardinals. He appeared in a total of seven games for Jerry Jones’ team in the current season and secured one sack with 12 tackles.

Marshawn Kneeland’s Agent Pens Heartfelt Message Following Cowboys DE’s Death
Marshawn Kneeland’s agent released a statement on the Cowboys DE’s passing and said that his heart is shattered following the tragic news.
He talked about Kneeland’s five-year-long collegiate journey with Western Michigan and his time at Dallas.
“I am shattered to confirm that my client and dearest friend Marshawn Kneeland passed away last night. I watched him fight his way from a hopeful kid at Western Michigan with a dream to being a respected professional for the Dallas Cowboys,” Perzley wrote in a statement.
“Marshawn poured his heart into every snap, every practice, and every moment on the field. To lose someone with his talent, spirit, and goodness is a pain I can hardly put into words. My heart aches for his family, his teammates, and everyone who loved him, and I hope they feel the support of the entire football community during this unimaginable time.”

According to the reports by the Frisco police department, the Cowboys DE took his own life with a self-inflicted gunshot at 1:31 am.
The report further stated that at around 10:39 pm on 5th November 2025, Frisco police assisted the Texas police in locating a vehicle that evaded troopers to enter the city of Frisco. When the police found the car minutes later, they found it was in a crashed state on the southbound Dallas Parkway near Warren Parkway.
