Arsenal vs. Chelsea: Team News & Possible Lineups
Arsenal vs. Chelsea Women Lineups are derived from previous match days. We take into consideration how strong the opponents are, what players are injured and of course team news before the match.
Team News Arsenal
Head coach Renée Slegers gave a squad update prior to the clash with Leicester City but ended up with less player than expected. Slegers originally said “Leah Williamson is not available. Manu [Zinsberger] is not available. The rest are in the building and training at their level and everyone is in contention to be in the squad for Leicester.”
On matchday the following injuries were announced:
Lotte Wubben-Moy is still building back to match fitness after withdrawing from England duty with illness.
Olivia Smith has a bruised hip and wasn’t fit to be in the match-day squad.
Kyra Cooney-Cross is feeling unwell.
Frida Maanum picked up a knock on international duty.
What the coach has to say
Renée Slegers after the 4-1 win over Leicester City last weekend: “Very happy with the three points, I think we had two days to get back to training from the international break and a lot of well invested time, together as players both on and off the pitch,” our head coach said after the game, “we had some new partnerships on the pitch today as well so that needs to click but I think it did really well, especially in the first half.
“The way we do things in possession made it really hard for Leicester today I think, but you’d have to ask them. We had quality, we had intent, we had tempo and a lot of fluidity in the way we moved and attacked spaces. I saw a lot of players playing on a really high level and to their strengths so that was good. I’m really happy with the game and three points to start this block.”
Team News Chelsea
Latest Chelsea Women team news: “There is positive news because everyone has returned fit and healthy from the international break, and we also have Naomi back in the group. Naomi is a top-class player and we want to have all of those players on the pitch. We want to enjoy watching them play and she’s an important player for us. I’m hoping that she will now be able to stay on the pitch for as long as possible.
“We had a really good international break here at Cobham with the players who stayed with us. LJ is doing really well. She just had a small setback. Maybe the original plan was for her to be moving towards the squad this weekend. We’ll have to wait a few more weeks, but not too long.”
What the coach has to say
Head coach Sonia Bompastor after the win over London City Lionesses last weekend: “London City had a really good start to the season. I was expecting them to put in a good performance and have a lot of motivation coming into the game. Since the beginning of the season, there have been different teams increasing their chemistry and making more connections between their players.
“They will improve even more in the future. Probably today, the energy from our side was not where we wanted it to be. They showed a lot of confidence coming into the game, and they made it challenging for us. Every game is challenging; I didn’t expect anything different.”

Johanna Rytting Kaneryd pulled one back for Chelsea, but the match ended in a 4–1 victory for Arsenal.
