Nuno’s perfect press conference ahead of Burnley clash

West Ham United manager Nuno Espirito Santo was full of smiles and positivity ahead of the Hammers’ match against Burnley on Saturday.

Since West Ham’s 3-1 win over Newcastle United on Sunday, the vibes throughout the team and the fan base have been so much better, and we saw that through the manager in his press conference.

Nuno arrived at the press conference in a very good mood; in fact, he greeted every single member of the press with a handshake before it kicked off, something a West Ham United manager has never done, according to BBC reporter Lauren Moore, who was at the presser.

In a video for the excellent West Ham fan channel Hammers Chat, Lauren spoke in detail about the press conference and how happy Nuno was to be there.

The most eye-catching quotes from Nuno were his praise of some of his players.

Potts – “He played really, really good. He had a fantastic match. His actions were accurate, and he balanced the team in the middle of the park. He’s played a lot of games on loan, and he is a good option for us. We’re here to help him improve.”

Paqueta – “I keep repeating and telling Lucas that being a No. 10, especially a Brazilian No. 10 is special. I hope he can continue to perform like he did against Newcastle.”

Diouf – “He’s a beautiful player. He’s so sensitive, and the way he arrived here – I think he’s living a dream. He has a lot of talent, but he has things to improve. He’s like a diamond you have to polish.”

Nuno also gave us some good news: this game comes too early for them, but Niclas Fullkrug and Konstantinos Mavropanos are expected to be back in contention after the international break.

This is so good to hear after suffering pretty much throughout the whole season so far. Nuno seems really proud of his players and is very happy with the improvement they showed against Newcastle on Sunday.

With Burnley coming up on Saturday, Nuno is right to be happy and confident. Home against Burnley is one of the games you see as a have to win ahead of the season, and it’s exactly that tomorrow, we should be winning that game, and after Sunday, I’m confident we can get the three points.

It’s so refreshing to see a manager full of confidence, but also not getting too carried away. Over the last year, it was really tough watching Graham Potter’s dull personality ahead of every match. I’m not surprised Nuno has got the team motivated after seeing his attitude in front of the press today.

If you haven’t seen it yet, I suggest you go and watch Nuno’s Burnley press conference!
