FPL Gameweek 11 Transfer Tips: Two Players to Buy, Hold, & Sell

What a week it’s been in the world of football. Arsenal have been a fortress, rewriting history books with a record-equalling eight consecutive clean sheets across all competitions — their best defensive run in 122 years! Mikel Arteta’s men haven’t conceded a single goal in the Premier League, Champions League, or League Cup during this remarkable spell, matching the all-time English top-flight record held by Preston (1889) and Liverpool (1920). FPL managers who doubled or tripled up on their defence have been laughing all the way to the bonus points bank.

At the other end of the pitch, Erling Haaland continues his terrifying form — 27 goals in just 17 matches this season for club and country. He’s scoring at a rate that defies logic, and captaining anyone else right now feels like tempting fate. The Norwegian juggernaut remains the gold standard of FPL reliability, and every Gameweek without him in your team feels like a countdown to pain.

Meanwhile, Liverpool might just be stirring back to life. Their 2-0 win over Aston Villa ended a four-game Premier League slump, and they followed it up with a composed 1-0 triumph over Real Madrid. After weeks of uncertainty, the Reds suddenly look assured again — and that could spell opportunity for managers eyeing Salah, Ekitike, or even a defensive punt. GW11 promises to be a fascinating one, with form, fixtures, and faith all coming into play.

So, let’s start with our BUY-HOLD-SELL article for this GW, sponsored by …. Well, nobody. We are poor, but you can help here if you want 😊

FPL GW11 Transfer Tips: Two Players to BUY

PS – I am assuming everyone has Haaland and Gabriel in their teams. If not, they are your priority buys.

Reece James (£5.5m) – DEF, Chelsea – 8.2% TSB

FPL GW11 Players to Target- Reece James

Outside the Arsenal defenders, Reece James is fast emerging as one of the most complete FPL defenders of the season, and GW11 looks tailor-made for him to deliver again. Chelsea face a struggling Wolves side rooted to the bottom of the table — winless in ten league matches and the only team across England’s top seven divisions yet to taste victory. With the Blues finally finding rhythm under Enzo Maresca and James bombing forward with trademark aggression, this fixture offers the perfect opportunity for both attacking and defensive returns.

Since Gameweek 5, James has been on another level among defenders — Ranking 1st for goal involvements and big chances, 2nd for key passes, xA, assists, and total FPL points. He’s combining creativity with consistency, and Chelsea’s upcoming run makes him a standout pick in both short and medium term. With Wolves low on confidence and Chelsea’s right flank buzzing with threat, investing in Reece James now could be one of those transfers that feels clever today and looks inspired by the weekend.

Jean-Philippe Mateta (£7.9m) – FWD, Crystal Palace – 24.4% TSB

FPL GW11 Transfer Tips: Two Players to BUY- Mateta

Jean-Philippe Mateta has quietly turned into one of the most explosive forward options in FPL — and it’s time to take notice. Over the last three Gameweeks, he’s not just in form; he’s leading the pack in almost every key attacking metric among forwards: 1st for FPL points, xPts, shots, xG, xGI, goals scored, and Goal Involvements. That’s complete dominance, backed by underlying numbers that scream sustainability rather than a purple patch. Palace’s attack flows through him — he’s their focal point, penalty taker, and confidence is clearly soaring.

The fixture run only strengthens his case. Crystal Palace face a dream schedule till the end of the year, with only one game in GW16 rated above 3 on the Fixture Difficulty Rating scale. With consistency, form, and fixtures all aligning, Mateta represents incredible value for managers looking to free up funds up front without compromising on returns. He’s ticking every FPL box — nailed, on penalties, and in red-hot form — making him one of the most compelling buys of Gameweek 11.

FPL GW11 Transfer Tips: Two Players to HOLD

Virgil Van Dijk (£6.0m) – DEF, Liverpool – 23.4% TSB

FPL GW11 Transfer Tips: Two Players to HOLD- Van Dijk

Virgil van Dijk is the most transferred-out defender this week, and it feels more reactionary than reasoned. Many managers are still influenced by the scars of Liverpool’s four-game losing streak earlier this season. But as highlighted above, the Reds have well and truly turned things around, registering back-to-back victories — including a crucial 1-0 win over Real Madrid that showcased their defensive resurgence. The other driver of this mass exodus is Liverpool’s fixture against Man City — or more specifically, against Erling Haaland. Yet history offers some perspective: last season, Liverpool won both their Premier League encounters against City with a combined scoreline of 4-0, keeping clean sheets in both.

Van Dijk is also good for DEFCON with an average of 11.30 DEFCON per 90 minutes(3rd Highest among Defenders) and has hit the DEFCON threshold in 6/10 games so far.

If you’re still hesitant, there’s always the option to bench Van Dijk for one Gameweek — because from GW12 onwards, Liverpool embark on a golden run with just one fixture rated above 3 until mid-January. With form, leadership, and favorable fixtures aligning, holding onto VVD could prove a far wiser move than joining the knee-jerk sell-off.

Nick Woltemade (£7.5m) – FWD, Newcastle – 23.9% TSB

FPL GW11 Transfer Tips: Two Players to HOLD- Woltemade

Between Gameweeks 4 and 8, Woltemade was a revelation — the second-highest scoring forward in FPL over that period. His unexpected purple patch sparked a frenzy among managers, sending his price soaring by £0.5m in just a few weeks. However, a couple of underwhelming outings against supposedly weaker opponents have now flipped the sentiment completely, with Woltemade currently the most transferred-out unflagged forward in the game. It’s a classic FPL overreaction — form fades, patience vanishes, and logic takes a back seat.

In reality, this might be the best time to hold firm. Newcastle rank 2nd on the Fixture Difficulty Rating between GW11–16, offering an inviting platform for returns. Woltemade remains a nailed starter which is an invaluable trait during a congested winter schedule. Yet, given his fluctuating form and volatile ownership, he’s a textbook case of “don’t buy, don’t sell.” If you already have him, the smart play is to hold — sit tight, stay patient, and let the points come back your way.

FPL GW11 Transfer Tips: Two Players to SELL

Tijjani Reijnders (£5.5m) – MID, Man City – 22.2% TSB

FPL GW11 Transfer Tips: Two Players to SELL- Reijnders

Tijjani Reijnders has gone from an early-season gem to a fading asset, and the signs are hard to ignore. Since Gameweek 1, he’s managed just one assist, and his attacking threat has all but evaporated. His minutes have dipped steadily over the past six Gameweeks (90 → 82 → 75 → 58 → 75 → 17), hinting at reduced trust from the manager and increasing competition for midfield spots. With Rodri sidelined, Reijnders has also been pushed into a deeper, more defensive role — a position that blunts his creativity and limits goal involvement. His output tells the story: Just one big chance in his last six appearances.

Adding to the concern is the growing congestion in City’s attacking lineup. Marmoush, Cherki, Foden, Doku, Savinho, and Bobb are all jostling for three attacking roles, making Reijnders’ place even more precarious. The upcoming fixtures don’t help either — clashes against Liverpool and Newcastle are as tough as they come. With diminishing minutes, defensive deployment, and difficult fixtures ahead, this looks like the ideal time to cash out. Reijnders is no longer an FPL hold — he’s a clear sell.

Mohammed Kudus (£6.6m) – MID, Spurs – 28.8% TSB

FPL GW11 Transfer Tips: Two Players to SELL- Kudus

Mohammed Kudus has gone cold at just the wrong time for FPL managers. He’s currently flagged with a yellow mark, raising doubts over his availability for the weekend — never a reassuring sign when fixture congestion and rotation are looming. Even when fit, his output has stalled badly, with four blanks in his last five matches. What’s more worrying is his complete lack of returns in home games this season, a trend that doesn’t inspire confidence ahead of Spurs’ next game — at home to Manchester United.

The upcoming schedule only compounds the problem. Spurs face a brutal run with Manchester United, Arsenal, and Newcastle in their next four fixtures. With form dipping, fitness uncertain, and fixtures turning ugly, Kudus feels like a luxury you can’t afford to carry right now. It’s time to move him on and reinvest in players with form, fitness, and fixtures on their side.
