Antonio Brown Taken Into Custody On Attempted Murder Charge

Former Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown was extradited from Dubai to the United States and is now in custody with law enforcement for attempted murder charges, per WPLG Local 10 News. He was taken into custody at Newark Airport in Essex County, New Jersey.

Brown was involved in an altercation in May that ended in gunfire. That incident resulted in his detention by law enforcement at an Adin Ross boxing event. After an investigation into the matter, Brown was officially charged with attempted murder. A warrant went out for his arrest. After fleeing and spending the last several months overseas, Brown is now in custody.

According to the report, Brown’s attorney secured a bond of $10,000 with house arrest, but he did not return to South Florida as instructed.

The arrest warrant surfaced in June via TMZ’s Michael J. Babcock on X.

“Mr. Brown struck Mr. Nantambu with a closed fist, and a fight ensued,” the affidavit reads. “Several other individuals began attacking Mr. Nantambu, escalating the situation to three (3) individuals against one (1). The fight continued briefly, until several security staff members…intervened. Mr. Nantambu was then seen walking away from Mr. Brown and exiting the enclosed parking area. Mr. Brown was observed struggling with Mr. Bauer [security guard] around and behind a parked white SUV…Mr. Brown appears to retrieve a black firearm from the right hip of Mr. Bauer. Mr Brown, at this point, holding the firearm with his left hand, started to run out of the enclosed parking area in the same direction that Mr. Nantambu exited.”

A cell phone video emerged on the initial night of the incident in May. It was difficult to decipher what was going on, but this affidavit helps to fill in some of the details. Brown ultimately fired two shots “within several feet of Mr. Nantambu”, according to the affidavit. Nantambu ducked away from danger.

For these actions, the Miami Police Department and the state of Florida are charging Brown with one count of attempted second-degree murder. Brown’s actions violated Florida Statute 782.04.

Brown quickly posted on X following the incident in May and maintained his innocence. He stated that he was not arrested and went home that night. According to the affidavit, Brown wasn’t arrested because there were no identified victims at the time they arrived on the scene. Police took the spent shell casings and the empty firearm holster as evidence.

Regarding the boxing event that happened last night. I was jumped by multiple individuals who tried to steal my jewelry and cause physical harm to me. Contrary to some video circulating, Police temporarily detained me until they received my side of the story and then released me.…
