Three Falcons ruled out for Sunday’s game against Colts

According to Ian Rapoport, the Atlanta Falcons have already ruled out a trio of starters for Sunday’s matchup with the Colts in Germany — left guard Matthew Bergeron, edge Leonard Floyd, and offensive tackle Storm Norton.

The status of the two offensive linemen shouldn’t come as a surprise. Raheem Morris said earlier in the week that Matthew Bergeron is week-to-week after suffering an injury in last Sunday’s game against the Patriots. It’s very likely he misses more than just the matchup with the Colts. In his place, Morris alluded to Kyle Hinton getting the start.

Morris also revealed that Storm Norton suffered a setback in his recovery from ankle surgery. It sounds like there’s a very real possibility we won’t see him again this season, which means more Elijah Wilkinson at right tackle, and that’s not a good thing.

The loss of veteran pass rusher Leonard Floyd stings, but if there’s one area that’s shown up every week — and I can’t remember the last time I said this about the Falcons — it’s been the pass rush. Atlanta racked up six sacks against the Patriots in their last game, bringing their season total to 22, which ranks 12th in the league.
