Former Lakers star fires gun at attempted home invaders

A former Los Angeles Lakers star had a terrifying event at his home on Wednesday. Former Lakers forward Christian Wood fired off shots during an attempted home invasion.

“Police said people were inside the one when a group of people tried to break into the house on Otsego Street by smashing the back door at around 1 pm. Wood, who was inside the two-story house, confronted the would-be burglars before running outside and firing 3 to 4 rounds at the ground, police said. The suspects were scared off and fled in a vehicle in an unknown direction.”

According to the report, no one was injured during the incident.

Wood made his NBA debut in 2015. During his eight years in the league, Wood spent time with the Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks, Detroit Pistons, Philadelphia 76ers, Charlotte Hornets, Milwaukee Bucks, New Orleans Pelicans, and the Lakers.

Wood’s last season in the league was in 2023-24. That was his lone season with the Lakers. In the 2023-24 season, Wood appeared in 50 games and averaged 6.9 points per game.
