Ezri Konsa hailed an important three points to boost Aston Villa’s UEFA Europa League ambitions.
The Villans claimed the Matchday 4 spoils over Maccabi Tel Aviv thanks to goals from Ian Maatsen and Donyell Malen, securing a 2-0 triumph.
It provided the perfect response following defeat to Go Ahead Eagles in the Netherlands last time out.
Victory moves Unai Emery’s side up to sixth place in the Europa League standings at the halfway stage of the league phase.
“It was clear that we needed to win here, especially with the table how it’s going,” said Konsa.
“We knew three points would get us back up there.
“Disappointing result last time out, but we made it right here and got the three points.”

With skipper John McGinn starting among the substitutes, Konsa was named captain at Villa Park.
It was the first time he’s worn the armband from the off under manager Unai Emery, a moment of pride for the defender.
“It’s always nice to lead the team out,” said the England international.
“It’s a role that I’ve always wanted to do.
“We’ve got a great captain in John McGinn, but when he’s not on the pitch, I’ve got to take responsibility.
“And I’m enjoying it, so hopefully I get many more.”
