November 7 – National Women’s Soccer League club, Gotham FC has added more business savvy to its front office, appointing former San Francisco 49ers chief marketing officer Alex Chang as chief revenue officer. His move reflects a growing trend of NFL executives crossing into the ‘other’ football, bringing the know-how of America’s most popular sport to America’s fastest emerging sport.

Chang will oversee partnerships, ticketing, and game day operations, joining a list of NFL veterans who see women’s soccer as the next frontier for fan engagement and brand growth.

“Alex brings exceptional leadership experience from his time guiding major organizations, including the San Francisco 49ers,” said Gotham FC governor Carolyn Tisch Blodgett. “His expertise in strategy, operations, and partnerships, along with his passion for building strong teams and communities, will be invaluable as we build on the League’s extraordinary momentum and shape a lasting legacy for Gotham FC.”

Chang said he’s eager to contribute to that mission. “I’m thrilled to join Gotham FC and to work alongside Carolyn, Ryan Dillon, and the incredible team here. With the incredible momentum surrounding women’s sports and soccer specifically, this is an exciting moment to see how far we can go together,” he said.

At the 49ers, Chang helped modernise the team’s marketing approach, expanding into international markets and launching the ‘Faithful to The Bay’ brand platform. He also served on the Bay Area Host Committee for both the 2026 FIFA World Cup and Super Bowl LX, experiences that bridge the two football codes which are increasingly intertwining.
