Why James Harden isn't playing for Clippers with injury update

The Los Angeles Clippers have a high-powered absence list on Thursday night.

James Harden has joined Kawhi Leonard as stars who will sit out.

The Clippers are taking on the Phoenix Suns in the only game of the NBA's Thursday slate, and they'll be doing it quite shorthanded.

Harden has averaged 23.3 points, 8.6 assists and 5.3 rebounds per game this season. He's making 41.7% of his 3-pointers and 93.3% of his foul shots.

Why isn't James Harden playing tonight?

James Harden is out against the Suns for what the Clippers have deemed personal reasons.

There has not been further reported about the specifics of Harden's absence.

Leonard was out Tuesday night as the second night of a back-to-back, but Harden played both Monday and Tuesday, so this is a new out listing for him.

With Harden out, the Clippers will likely give the point guard start to Kris Dunn.

The Clippers also get Bradley Beal back in the lineup after he was out, so it'll likely be some kind of splitting up of the ball-handling duties between Dunn and Beal.

The next game for the Clippers is on Saturday, at home, against the same Suns. It remains to be seen whether Leonard and/or Harden can make it back for that one.
