TIMMONS’ SON FLIPS COMMITMENT
Lawrence Timmons was an NFL linebacker who played with the Steelers from 2007 to 2016. He was the first draft pick made with Mike Tomlin as the Steelers’ head coach. He made one Pro Bowl and was named a second-team All-Pro once. While Timmons has been retired for a while, his son, Jay Timmons, is in the midst of his football journey.
The younger Timmons plays corner and was slated to play at Florida State. However, according to Hayes Fawcett on Twitter, Timmons has flipped his commitment. He’s now set to go to Ohio State. While his father went to Florida State, Timmons will try to carve out his own path at a different school.
DUGGER RANKED MOST IMPACTFUL TRADE
While the Steelers didn’t make any deals on the day of the trade deadline, they made an in-season trade before that, acquiring Kyle Dugger. He made an instant impact, too. Dugger played almost every snap in the Steelers’ Week 9 win over the Indianapolis Colts. He didn’t make any splash plays, but Dugger was as solid as a player could be with a new team. That earned him some recognition.
FOX Sports listed their top 10 most impactful in-season trades on Twitter, and the Steelers’ deal for Dugger came in at number five. While Dugger hasn’t been with the team very long, he’s already helped the Steelers. We’ll see if he can keep up his hot start.
TOMLIN PRAISED SAWYER
The Steelers forced six turnovers in Week 9 against the Colts, and all of those plays were very important to their win. That included Jack Sawyer’s interception near the end of the third quarter. The Colts were putting a nice drive together, but Payton Wilson batted a pass up in the air and Sawyer came down with it.
That earned the rookie some praise from Mike Tomlin. On the sideline, Tomlin made sure to tell Sawyer that play is why he drafts players from Ohio State. While Sawyer hasn’t been in the league for very long, he’s made a handful of plays. Hopefully, he can add plenty more throughout his career.
