[Liverpool](https://walkon.com/) are the reigning champions of the Premier League, and although they were the biggest buyers in the summer 2025 transfer market, there are plenty of elite European clubs after their own stars, too.
Perhaps no player is generating more transfer interest than veteran center back Ibrahima Konate, by virtue of the fact that the world-class Frenchman will be a free agent in summer 2026.
For the most part, Real Madrid have been the most interested party in his services as a potenital free transfer, but now there’s another historical Champions League power after him, too.
According to a report from Tobias Altschaffl and Julian Agardi of BILD in Germany, Bayern MUnich are now very much in the transfer race for Konate next summer, as they are interested in him as an option at the center back position in case their own world-class impending free agent, Dayot Upamecano, were to leave with Real Madrid heavily interested in Konate’s former teammate at RB Leipzig.
PSG are another team interested in Konate, but because Konate used to be a big star in the Bundesliga before joining Liverpool, Bayern may be favored in this situation over the reigning Champions League winners.
