Aaron Rodgers has been helping the Pittsburgh Steelers look strong so far this season. He has been able to attract players to come play with him since leaving the Green Bay Packers, as he was able to get some weapons with the New York Jets as well.

One player recently joined the Steelers and credited playing with the four-time NFL MVP for signing. Let’s take a closer look into who said it and what the relationship is between the two players.

Aaron Rodgers and Marquez Valdes-Scantling go back to Green Bay

While speaking to reporters on Wednesday after officially joining the Pittsburgh Steelers practice squad, veteran wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling placed his reasoning for joining the team into quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

“This guy next to me got me here. You’ve been trying to get me around since we left Green Bay… He is the reason.”

Valdes-Scantling would continue to discuss how their relationship has been incredible, and the two are close.

“He’s the best that ever played this game, man. So it’s pretty easy when you got that guy under center and just being on the same page. We built a great rapport over the four years that we got to play together, and he’s one of my closest friends in this NFL thing that I’ve ever made. He’s taught me a lot, so just being able to be around him again and get some more knowledge four years late, I’m excited about that.”

Valdes-Scantling and Rodgers played four years together with the Packers from 2018-2021. In the 59 games, he recorded 123 receptions on 247 targets for 2,153 yards (17.5 yards per catch) with 13 touchdown grabs. It will be interesting to see if and when he is elevated to the 53-man roster to get the connection with Pittsburgh that they shared in Green Bay.
