Legendary NFL announcer Al Michaels shared an honest reaction after the Denver Broncos punter, Jeremy Crawshaw, had a disastrous start to Thursday's game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
The Broncos' offense struggled to get going against the Raiders, and the defense was also under pressure as Crawshaw struggled to punt the ball deep. During his third punt of the game, Crawshaw mis-kicked the football, and it had just 1.56 seconds of hang time.

In the first half of Thursday Night Football, Crawshaw punted the ball four times, but failed to place the ball inside the Raiders' 20-yard line. His longest punt was 51 yards, but he averaged 38.8 yards after making several errors.
Crawshaw also dropped the ball before completing another punt, and one of his kicks went directly out of bounds during a nightmare start. To make matters worse, Raiders punter AJ Cole delivered one of the best punts of the season and put the ball at Denver's one-yard line on two occasions.
"AJ Cole is having the best punting game of all time in the same game Jeremy Crawshaw is having the worst game of all time," one fan wrote on X. "AJ Cole vs. Jeremy Crawshaw isn't a fair fight. This shouldn't be televised. It's too graphic. Brutal," another added.

"That's one of the worst-looking punts I've seen in my life," a third wrote. "Jeremy Crawshaw booed after his fourth punt. 3.88 seconds of hang time. It went straight out of bounds. It's like preseason all over again. 38 yards net and gross," another critic added.
Crawshaw was the only punter to be selected during the 2025 NFL Draft, after starring for Florida in college. The 24-year-old is originally from Australia, and attracted NCAA interest after making a name for himself at Nathan Chapman's ProKick Australia academy.
The punter struggled during preseason, averaging 44.5 yards gross and 35.07 yards per punt net. However, Crawshaw made the 53-man roster after head coach Sean Payton vowed to stick by him.
When asked about Crawshaw following a shaky preseason, Payton said: "Keep working with him and developing with him. That's part of it. I think we're going to be happy with him and his ability."
Payton also suggested that Crawshaw often settles into a rhythm after making his first punt of the game. "It seems to always be that first punt. So we’re going to create some situations where right in the middle of a practice, we’ll have a punt before we get to a punt period," Payton said.

"The reality of it is, you get an at-bat. You don’t get four at-bats, five at-bats. So, trying to create those singular events for him, I think, will help, too."
Crawshaw put his preseason errors to one side and entered Week 9 with a 47.6-yard average from 38 punts, with 18 inside the 20-yard line. However, he made a disastrous start against the Raiders.
