Public notices: Two road closures announced for York area

The first closure is in Stamford Bridge, where part of The Square Access Road to Shops will be shut from 9pm on December 1 until 6am on December 2.

The closure will affect the section of the road encompassing properties 4 to 14.

This is to allow for safe access to an underground structure to lay ducting work.

While the order is valid for 18 months, the works are expected to be completed within nine hours.

A diversion will be in place via The Square Access Road to Shops, the A166 The Square (where traffic lights will be in operation), Stamford Bridge CP, and Pocklington Provincial Ward.

The diversion route will be signed at the time of the closure.

Access will be maintained for residents, emergency vehicles and pedestrians.

The second closure is in High Catton, where parts of Mitchell Lane and Common Lane (private) will be closed from 8am on December 3 until 5pm on December 5.

The closure affects the section from the junction with Howl Gate southbound to the access to Lodge Farm.

This is to allow for the installation of ducting and chambers for the new BDUK fibre network on behalf of Quickline Communications.

While the order is valid for 18 months, the works are expected to be completed within three days.

As this is a no-through road section, no alternative route for traffic has been provided.

Access will be maintained for residents, emergency vehicles and pedestrians.

Both closures have been put in place to ensure the safety of the public while the works are carried out.

The notices were issued by Paul Bellotti, Executive Director of Communities and Environment at East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

The council has also stated that it will provide documents in Braille, audio or large print format upon request.

Translations are also available for those whose first language is not English.
