Liverpool star’s agent in talks for blockbuster exit – Arne Slot won’t be impressed

Bayern Munich have identified Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konaté as a candidate to replace Dayot Upamecano.

That’s according to Bild, and they cover Bayern Munich’s interest in the Liverpool player and Upamecano’s situation.

Both Konaté and the 27-year-old Bayern Munich star have contracts expiring at the end of this season.

The Bundesliga winners are keen on retaining Upamecano beyond this season and are making an effort. However, there’s been no concrete movements and it’s not certain that the Bavarian club will be successful.

Faced with this possibility, Bayern Munich have set their sights on 26-year-old Konaté. He impressed for Liverpool in their 1-0 Champions League win over Real Madrid.

The centre-back’s performances for both the Reds and France have seen the German champions take notice. They’ve made contact over signing him for free next summer.

Bild journalist Tobi Altschäffl reports more on Bayern Munich’s approach to try and sign the France international.

“We can report this as breaking news: Bayern are in talks with Konaté’s management,” he said.

Vincent Kompany’s side aren’t the only club in the picture as Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are also keen.

“His contract is expiring, and Bayern could sign him on a free transfer. We’ve heard that Konaté’s agent is in talks with Real Madrid, PSG, and Bayern. He’s a hot prospect on the market, and Bayern are interested,” Altschäffl explained.

Bayern Munich’s plan, for now, is to retain Upamecano. If they can’t, they have lined up Konaté as his possible replacement.

For Arne Slot, it’s a transfer headache he doesn’t need.
