Player fancies move to Chelsea–30-year-old eager for negotiations

AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan is eyeing up a move to Chelsea next year.

MilanLive.it cover Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Marco Pasotto’s comments on the Serie A side’s goalkeeping situation and Chelsea are named as an option for Maignan.

Last summer, Chelsea were keen on the 30-year-old and came close to securing his services.

Two months ago, we covered claims from Italy that Massimiliano Allegri stopped his sale to Chelsea. It was also stated the Blues are still keen on signing him.

On October 8th, Corriere dello Sport reported the Rossoneri are pleased that his move to Stamford Bridge didn’t go through.

The France international is in his final year of contract and a renewal doesn’t seem to be in sight. He currently earns €2.8m per year and the Italian club offered him an improved contract worth €5m.

Pasotto claims the renewal negotiations are frozen and the two parties are ‘inexorably moving towards separation’. He adds Allegri’s side will make one last attempt to convince him. They are unlikely to be successful considering the stopper aims to join Chelsea.

“And now Maignan appears to be quite firmly committed to renewing his relationship with Chelsea [but he’s also keeping an eye on Bayern and Juventus],” he said.

Maignan aims to reconnect with Enzo Maresca’s side to restart negotiations. With Chelsea said to be still keen, his plans should come as a boost for the Blues to sign him, possibly for free next summer.
