Daniel Farke will sit down with the media this afternoon to preview Leeds United’s trip to Nottingham Forest.

Three defeats in four games is a sour return but a streak not unexpected of a newly-promoted Premier League side. Nevertheless, if United are to stay up, they must beat the teams in and around them - and right now Forest fit into this profile.

On their third manager of the season, those at the City Ground will be fearing the worst. Leeds must try to capitalise on any feeling of angst that could grow. Either way, they have go to respond to what was an awful showing down at Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.

As a result of that, Farke could be asked a series of questions today.

Is there any temptation to change your away tactics?

This question could come in many forms, and probably will, though it has already been asked. When this was put to Farke down at the AMEX Stadium after full time, he pointed to the xG created in the previous matches, Arsenal aside.

He’s not wrong but at the same time, Wolves are the only team against whom Leeds have scored on the road. It has now moved from a trend into a problem, and another goalless away day will only further put the spotlight on Farke’s tactics.

Farke will likely stick to type against Forest, which will be a reality litmus test, though the German will surely have been pondering over certain elements of his team’s game following the disjointed display in Brighton.

Of course, he cannot put the ball in the net for the attackers but something has got to give, it seems. That may well come in the form of injury returns…

How fit is Daniel James to play, and about Wilfried Gnonto?

James has not started a match since the goalless draw with Newcastle United back in August due to various setbacks. He has been used cautiously since, having not really found form since injuring his hamstring back in April.

James has slowly had minutes from the bench but Leeds need him back more than ever. Brenden Aaronson’s man of the match display against West Ham United seems to have been a flash in the pan - he was non-existent against Brighton.

Meanwhile, Gnonto was touch and go for the squad against Brighton but was not included. Farke will be quizzed about that later today, with the winger completing a full week of training prior to the game having returned from hernia surgery. James starting and having Gnonto available would be a big boost.

What are your thoughts on the current midfield trio?

United’s midfield was cut apart at Brighton, alarmingly so. None of Ao Tanaka, Ethan Ampadu or Sean Longstaff had a good game, with Anton Stach being the brightest upon his substitution into the action.

Tanaka said after the West Ham victory that he felt he was subpar and while he was the best out of the trio of starters at Brighton, does Saturday's overall display warrant Stach coming in to make the midfield more bulky?

At the same time, Tanaka is the more creative asset - something Leeds have lacked in recent away games. Farke will not give any direct selection news away but any questions around his midfielders may hint at which direction he is thinking of heading.
