Wolves approach for La Liga manager revealed – Iñigo Pérez gets the call

Rayo Vallecano manager Iñigo Pérez is one of the names who has been under consideration at Wolves.

That’s according to Radio Marca, and journalist Matteo Moretto covers Wolves’ interest in the 37-year-old. Pérez started as an assistant at the La Liga side and left them following Andoni Iraola’s move to AFC Bournemouth in 2023.

He returned to Rayo Vallecano in February 2024 and since then has been in charge of the first team. The club finished eighth last season, seeing them secure a berth in the UEFA Conference League via qualifiers.

Moretto claims the Spanish club’s boss has received calls from Wolves, Nottingham Forest and AS Monaco in recent weeks. The Reds and the Ligue 1 side now have new managers while Wolves are yet to appoint Vítor Pereira’s successor.

Pérez and Iraola share the same agent, and the journalist reports this may open the doors for him in Spain and England.

Diario de Navarra relay more from Moretto on Pérez, with the journalist speaking to Radio Marca. They point out the coach ‘rejected the offers’ because he wants to stay at Rayo Vallecano until the end of this season.

Wolves have been working this week to snatch Rob Edwards from Middlesbrough. Whether they’ll be successful or not remains to be seen.

Iñigo Pérez looks like an intriguing target, but it’s a closed door for now. In the event Wolves appointed an interim until the end of the season, and survived in the Premier League, perhaps he’s an option to be revisited.
