Moises Caicedo’s midfield idols include Chelsea and Manchester United figures

Speaking to the Premier League this week, Caicedo was asked a series of questions, including who was his idol growing up.

He went on to name Claude Makelele, N’Golo Kante, and Paul Pogba before being asked who he would pick out of Kante and Pogba.

Caicedo picked the former Chelsea man over ex-Manchester United star Pogba.

John Terry disagreed with Caicedo, saying that Makelele was better than Kante when naming his all-time Blues eleven.

But there can be no denying the former Leicester City ace, who was crucial to the Foxes and Chelsea winning league titles, is an all-time great.

Kante left England in 2023, being released for free and signing for Al-Ittihad.

Claude Makelele’s verdict on Moises Caicedo

Meanwhile, while Caicedo isn’t quite at their level just yet, Makelele has praised the midfielder.

The Frenchman was playing a game of ‘winner stays on’ between himself and current midfielders when he selected himself over Kante.

However, he then named Caicedo as the only midfielder better than himself.

High praise considering that Makelele also stated he was better than the likes of Paul Scholes, Roy Keane, Sergio Busquets, Toni Kroos, Xabi Alonso, Patrick Vieira and Pep Guardiola.
