Former Manchester United star Lee Sharpe believes we have "seen the end of Andre Onana" with the goalkeeper currently out on loan following an underwhelming two years at Old Trafford.
Onana was bought in with big expectations having just made the Champions League final with Inter Milan but his time at the Red Devils has been plagued by constant errors and mistakes leading directly to goals.
After plenty of summer noise surrounding a possible exit he did eventually leave, but only once the Premier League's transfer window had closed. He headed to Turkey to join Trabzonspor, who agreed to pay all of his wages, and United have since pressed on with Senne Lammens.
The young Belgian was signed in the summer but has come into the team and largely impressed, keeping a clean sheet on debut, and bringing a sense of calm to the backline with Sharpe adamant he'll now replace Onana.
The ex-United star told Adventure Gamers: "I would be very surprised if Andre Onana came back to the club after leaving on loan in the summer. Senne Lammens looks to have made that position his own now, and I don’t think Onana would want to come back and play second fiddle. I think we have seen the end of Onana at Old Trafford."
Onana had previously been defiant about his qualities and often pointed to his history of success as proof of his skillset. However he was dropped for a game last term by Ruben Amorim and a summer injury meant he missed the start of the season.
Altay Bayindir came in and struggled, Onana was recalled for the shock loss at Grimsby and again made an error, but Lammens has looked a lot more assured in between the sticks. He was part of the team that won at Liverpool recently and Sharpe has compared him to two of the club's great modern day shot stoppers.

"Senne Lammens has made some great saves already for Manchester United and seems very calm. I’ve seen a few comparisons to Peter Schmeichel, but Peter certainly wasn’t calm! I can see similarities between the two in the shot stopping category and in the way he commands his box, he isn’t afraid of coming for crosses, in the same way Peter was.
"I actually see a combination of similarities between Peter and Edwin van der Sar with Lammens; he has the calmness and presence of Edwin but the shot stopping and goalkeeping prowess of Peter. I hope it’s not a flash in the pan for him and Manchester United and this can continue."
