Alisson Becker has not played for Liverpool since September, after going off with a hamstring injury in the club’s 1-0 defeat to Galatasaray in the Champions League.

The Brazilian international was forced off after 56 minutes during the tie in Istanbul, with head coach Arne Slot quickly confirming post-match that Alisson faced multiple weeks on the sidelines.

Slot and medical staff were cautious to avoid a specific recovery timeline, but it quickly became clear that Alisson would not feature again before the November international break – and certainly not for Brazil’s high-profile friendlies against South Korea and Japan.

Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti left the Liverpool shot-stopper out of his latest squad, citing the ongoing hamstring issue, and named Ederson and Bento among his goalkeeping choices instead.

However, Liverpool’s No.1 is now on the mend with Arne Slot providing a positive update in his pre-Manchester City press conference.

When quizzed on whether we could see Alisson and Jeremie Frimpong after the November international break, the Dutchman replied:

“Alisson for sure, I expect Frimpong to be back after the international break also because we play until November-March,” Slot said.

“I don’t expect Frimpong to be fully fit for [Nottingham] Forest, but with Alisson we expect this.”

This means that we should see Alisson in-between the sticks vs Nottingham Forest at Anfield on the 22nd November.

It marks the 33-year-old’s fourth hamstring injury since February 2024, with the goalkeeper having missed a combined 41 games for club and country due to similar issues.

His expected return for the Nottingham Forest clash will be crucial as Liverpool enters a decisive phase of their season, with the full Premier League and Champions League campaigns still to be decided.
