Noah Okafor Leeds United
Noah Okafor was one of three attackers signed by Leeds United in the summer transfer window. Fans were excited when the deal was announced, but the enthusiasm disappeared at the end of the transfer deadline.
The Whites failed to add another big name attacker to the team, with their potential moves for Facundo Buonanotte and Harry Wilson falling flat. Leeds’ attack started the season off poorly as the team only managed one open play goal in four games.

During that time Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Noah Okafor were not match fit to start games. It was the Fulham game that saw Daniel Farke start a new-look front three. They failed to find the back of the net at Craven Cottage, but the new front three sprung to life in the next game. Okafor and Calvert-Lewin were both on the scoresheet in a 3-1 win over Wolves.
Since then, Noah Okafor has been one of the better players in the Leeds United attack this season. He is the joint-top scorer for the team in the Premier League this campaign.
While his exploits may be enjoyed by Daniel Farke and Leeds fans, some coaches do not have the same opinion on the 25-year old.
Leeds United winger Noah Okafor misses out on Switzerland callup
This week, Noah Okafor has once again been left out of the Switzerland squad for this international break. This makes it close to a full year that the winger has failed to make an appearance for his national team.
Switzerland coach Murat Yakin and Okafor reportedly have personal issues and that is why the winger has missed out on callups. When quizzed about why the 25-year old was not in the squad for next week’s games, Yakin said: “Okafor remains on our radar. I’ve spoken to Okafor repeatedly, telling him what I expect from him on and off the pitch.
“I hope my words will eventually get through to him.”
“We’ll continue to monitor him. Attacking players are also measured by their scoring.
“Those who are currently playing have an advantage over Okafor in that regard.”
Okafor’s national team absence could be a boost for Leeds
With Switzerland close to sealing qualification for the 2026 World Cup. And if they do qualify, there is no guarantee that Okafor makes his return to the national team. So as it stands, the 25-year old will not be reporting for international duty for the rest of the season.
And that hugely benefits Leeds United; the winger has missed 158 days and 28 games since 2023. This season, he has been available for the most part. If he can stay fit between now and May, the Whites stand a real chance at survival.
