Thomas Tuchel has called up Anthony Gordon to his England squad for the dead rubber World Cup qualifiers against Serbia and Albania - but Eddie Howe insists Newcastle United are not on a collision course with the Three Lions over his inclusion.

Gordon was described as unlikely to face Brentford this weekend and is facing a scan on a hip injury that resulted in him coming off early against Athletic Bilbao. But Tuchel still named him in his 25-man squad for the final two games of the World Cup qualifcation process.

There was a recall to the squad for Nick Pope while Dan Burn remains very much part of Tuchel's plans. Whitley Bay youngster Elliot Anderson, who was rested by Nottingham Forest, also continues his international education with the Three Lions.

Howe said today: "I feel relaxed about him being with England.

"It will all be done with England’s blessing in terms of weather he is fit or not fit. We will work together to find the best solutions for Anthony.

"We don’t think it is a serious injury, but we are getting him scanned and waiting on the result.

"I think there is every chance he might miss our game on Sunday but we will give him every opportunity to be fit."
