Marshawn Kneeland, an NFL player for the Dallas Cowboys has died at 24.
Dallas Cowboys player Marshawn Kneeland has died at 24 in apparent suicide. According to NBC News, “Dallas Cowboys defensive end Marshawn Kneeland was found dead with a self-inflicted gunshot wound after evading authorities, crashing a car and fleeing on foot, police in Texas said Thursday.
NBC News also reported that “The Collin County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of death, the statement added. Police said they are investigating the case as a possible suicide.”
Following Marshawn Kneeland’s death, the Dallas Cowboys released a statement which read: "It is with extreme sadness that the Dallas Cowboys share that Marshawn Kneeland tragically passed away this morning.”
The statement went on to say that "Marshawn was a beloved teammate and member of our organisation. Our thoughts and prayers regarding Marshawn are with his girlfriend Catalina and his family."

The NFL also released a statement which read: “We are deeply saddened by the tragic news of the passing of Cowboys' Marshawn Kneeland.
The statement went on to say that "Our thoughts and prayers are with his girlfriend Catalina, family, friends and his teammates. We have been in contact with the Cowboys and have offered support and counselling resources."
Following his death, Marshawn Kneeland’s Instagram has been flooded with messages. One fan wrote: “He was looking to celebrate his touchdown and his recent success with someone, but the person that mattered to him the most was his mom, she never got to see him play in the nfl. (Mom unexpectedly passed during nfl combine).
“Never got to see him reach their goals. There's an emptyness he was feeling and not having that person to enjoy it with.
“Doesn't matter what the fans think or anyone else, he just wanted to celebrate that moment with his mom.
“His #1 fan. Anyone that's ever lost someone can relate.He then probably went through an episode of emotion and just didn't have enough tools this time to help him.
“At the end of that interview (1st & Ten) he gets choked up when speaking about his mom. Instead of feeling happy he probably got swept with sadness. Especially if he has his teammates having their families around at their games and there supporting and celebrating with them.

When did Marshawn Kneeland’s mum die?
According to the New York Post, “The Cowboys defensive lineman lost his mother, Wendy, to an accidental overdose less than two years before he took his own life at just 24 years old. “ The New York Post also reported that “Williams was reportedly close to his mother, carrying a small urn with her ashes on a chain around his neck since her passing.”
