The Las Vegas Raiders gained only 188 yards, went 29:13 of game time without a first down, were penalized 11 times, got a punt blocked and had a gimpy quarterback by the end of the game after he’d been sacked six times on Thursday night.
Despite all that and trailing Denver by 4.5 games in the AFC West standings, the Raiders still had a chance to stop the Broncos’ winning streak at six in a row right down to their last snap.
On a windy night in Denver, Las Vegas had an opportunity to tie the score in the fourth quarter. But former Auburn standout Daniel Carlson’s 48-yard field-goal attempt slipped past the right upright on the outside with 4:26 remaining, and the Broncos ran out the remaining time on a 10-7 victory.
Three players with Alabama football roots played in the Las Vegas-Denver game:
Kris Abrams-Draine (Spanish Fort) started at cornerback for the Broncos. Abrams-Draine did not record any stats in his first start of the season.
In addition to his one field-goal attempt, Raiders kicker Daniel Carlson (Auburn) made an extra point.
Raiders wide receiver Shedrick Jackson (Hoover, Auburn) is on the practice squad and not eligible to play.
Bo Nix (Pinson Valley, Auburn) started at quarterback for the Broncos. Nix completed 16-of-28 passes for 150 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. Nix threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Troy Franklin with 2:41 left in the first half.
Raiders defensive tackle JJ Pegues (Auburn) was designated as a game-day inactive.
Broncos outside linebacker Que Robinson (Jackson-Olin, Alabama) was designated as a game-day inactive.
Broncos linebacker Drew Sanders (Alabama) is on injured reserve and not eligible to play.
Broncos quarterback Jarrett Stidham (Auburn) dressed for the game but did not play.
Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II (Alabama) was designated as a game-day inactive. A pectoral injury kept Surtain out of the lineup for the second game in a row.
