FC Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, has spoken about the team’s much-anticipated return to the Spotify Camp Nou, as well as the current state of Hansi Flick’s squad following their 3-3 draw against Club Brugge.
The open training session held on Friday marked an emotional moment for both the players and the fans in attendance, as Barça stepped onto their historic home ground for the first time since renovation work began.
Asked about the team’s recent run of form and Flick’s insistence on sticking to his philosophy despite defensive vulnerabilities, Deco offered his full backing to the German coach.
“There is no question of discussing style. We know perfectly well where we can improve and the difficulties we have.
“Last season, we also went through some difficult moments and we were able to overcome them.
“Getting players and feelings back, being united and working… That’s what we have to do.
“We did it last season and we’re going to do the same this season. There’s nothing that can change things other than hard work and dedication,” said the director.

Deco also shared his admiration for the revamped Spotify Camp Nou, describing the stadium’s transformation with enthusiasm.
“All of us at the club who are still in Montjuïc miss being here. It feels like it was a great stadium, and now it’s even greater.
“There are memories, of course, but the most important thing is that we get back as soon as possible.
“It’s different playing here, and the players feel the same way. I imagine it will be spectacular when we can return here.”
New experience for certain players
Touching on the fact that as many as eight current players have yet to play at the iconic venue, Deco highlighted the significance of La Masia’s contribution to the club’s future.
“This is a sign that we have worked well, that we have players from our own academy, La Masia, and this is important and a good sign because in the last two and a half years that we have been away, we have been able to bring through players from La Masia who are important.
“That’s Barça, that’s what the president was looking for in this project. But you have to ask them. I suppose that, as players from La Masia, they must be excited to be here,” he noted.
