Arsenal Receive 2 Nominations For Prestigious FIFA Awards

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and goalkeeper David Raya are among the nominees for The Best FIFA Football Awards.

Arteta is on the shortlist for the best men’s coach along with Mexico’s Javier Aguirre, Paris Saint-Germain’s Luis Enrique, Barcelona’s Hansi Flick, Chelsea’s Enzo Maresca, Portugal’s Roberto Martinez and Liverpool’s Arne Slot.

Raya, meanwhile, is one of the candidates for the best men’s goalkeeper, with Spaniard vying with Liverpool’s Alisson Becker, Real Madrid’s Thibaut Courtois, Manchester City’s Gianluigi Donnarumma and Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martínez, Bayern Munich’s Manuel Neuer, Inter Milan’s Yann Sommer and Barcelona’s Wojciech Szczesny.

The Best FIFA Football Awards ceremony is expected to take place at the start of next year.

No one from Arsenal was nominated for The BEST Men’s Player

It is somewhat surprising that no Gunners star made the 11-man shortlist for the best player prize. Two Premier League stars were named as candidates – Chelsea’s Cole Palmer and Liverpool’s Mo Salah.

European champions Paris Saint-Germain had four players among the nominees, including Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembele, Achraf Hakimi, Nuno Mendes and Vitinha.

Despite making it to the same stage of the Champions League as Arsenal, Barcelona have three players listed – Raphinha, Lamine Yamal and Pedri, with Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe and Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane making up the rest of the eleven.
