Arteta snubbed for Manager of the Month despite winning every match without conceding

Mikel Arteta and Arsenal fans may be a little annoyed after the Spaniard was snubbed for Manager of the Month.

Arteta lost out to Manchester United’s Ruben Amorim despite winning every game in October without a goal conceded.

The Basque native has made his Arsenal side solid Premier League title favourites, but Amorim’s Old Trafford resurgence has been favoured as the bigger achievement last month.

The Portuguese similarly won three from three during the month, and has been rewarded for taking the struggling giants out of crisis mode.

Aston Villa’s Unai Emery and Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola were the other candidates, with the former also winning three from three, and Iraola recording two wins and a draw.

The award is decided by a combination of supporters’ votes and a panel of experts.

Arteta has previously won the Manager of the Month award on five occasions, while this is Amroim’s first gong after a difficult start in Manchester.

United most notably took down rivals Liverpool 2-1, while a 4-2 win over Brighton and 2-0 over Sunderland gave the Red Devils a goal difference of +5 in October.

Arsenal, meanwhile, beat West Ham 2-0, Fulham 1-0 and Crystal Palace 1-0.

During that run David Raya rather incredibly only faced one single shot on target, from former Gunner Eddie Nketiah for Palace.

As such, Arsenal are now strong favourites for their first Premier League title since 2004 as they sit six points clear of second-placed Manchester City and seven above defending champions Liverpool.

Overall they have eight wins, one draw and one defeat this season, with their three goals conceded five fewer than any other team, and the lowest figure in Europe's big five leagues.
