Burnley are continuing to target Valencia centre-back César Tárrega ahead of the January transfer window.
That’s according to Marca. They report that Burnley have already scouted the 23-year-old ‘a couple of times’ this season.
According to their information, Tárrega remains a target for Burnley. They have had him on their list to reinforce their defence for some time.
Representatives from Turf Moor have attended two Valencia home matches this season to monitor the defender’s progress. They believe he can adapt quickly to the Premier League and his qualities are ideal for England’s top flight.
Burnley have funds to invest in Scott Parker’s squad and would be happy to spend them on Tárrega. But there has been no direct contact with the player’s representatives as yet.
Burnley said to be serious about signing
Cesar Tarrega
Burnley target Cesar Tarrega (Valencia CF) during match between Real Betis and Valencia CF. Benito Villamarin on May 23, 2025 in Seville, Spain.
Marca, though, insist that they are ‘serious’ about signing the player and will make an official offer for him. They have ‘very interesting’ reports on the Valencia defender. He was already on their list in the summer transfer window.
Whether a bid comes in January, remains to be seen. Marca say any official offer would arrive next summer so clearly, they don’t think so.
Any deal won’t be an easy one anyway. Tárrega renewed his deal at the Spanish club in the summer after lengthy negotiations. Burnley also know that the player is comfortable at the Mestalla.
The interest is there, though, and they’re continuing to watch him after showing an interest in the summer.
