The Green Bay Packers under Matt LaFleur have delivered one of the most inconsistent stretches of football this season.
They have posted impressive victories against the Detroit Lions, Washington Commanders, and Aaron Rodgers’ Pittsburgh Steelers.
Those performances showcased a team capable of competing with anyone in the NFC when executing at full capacity.
Yet the same roster has also suffered losses to the struggling Cleveland Browns and Carolina Panthers.
Those setbacks have raised questions about the team’s identity and whether they possess the consistency required for a deep postseason run.
Analyst John Middlekauff recently discussed the situation during a segment on the “3rd and Out” show.
He believes the pressure in Green Bay is intensifying and that LaFleur is feeling the weight of rising expectations more than ever before.
“When you are in a situation with a quarterback who is producing and your team is gonna go to the playoffs, you’re held to a pretty high standard. Better win. You don’t have to win the Super Bowl. You don’t have to win the NFC, but I do think you got to show out in the playoffs. You can’t have a situation like last year. That 1st round game was an embarrassment. And if he has another one of those, I think his job would be in major jeopardy,” Middlekauff said.

LaFleur was once viewed as a steady presence who brought stability to the organization.
That perception has shifted following a series of unexpected losses that should not have occurred.
Middlekauff pointed to the defeats against Cleveland as heavy favorites, the tie with the Dallas Cowboys, and the home loss to Carolina as examples of games that have prompted tougher questions from the fanbase.
Injuries to Tucker Kraft and Jayden Reed have complicated matters for the offense.
However, LaFleur is still expected to make adjustments and find solutions despite the roster limitations.
Through the first half of the season, the Packers have struggled to adapt when circumstances demand it.
If those issues continue, the scrutiny surrounding LaFleur’s leadership will only grow louder and could eventually impact his long-term standing with the organization.
