The Chicago Bears (5-3) won one of the most improbable games in recent years. After blowing a 14-point lead in 49 seconds, they rallied to beat the Cincinnati Bengals (3-6) 47-42, thanks to a 58-yard touchdown pass to rookie tight end Colston Loveland, scoring with 17 seconds left. With their two-game road trip now over, the Bears return to the friendly confines of Soldier Field to host the struggling New York Giants (2-7). After struggling against the Baltimore Ravens, Caleb Williams rebounded with 355 total yards (280 passing, 53 rushing, 22 receiving) and four total touchdowns (Three passing, one receiving). Rookie running back Kyle Monangai rushed for 176 yards on 26 carries (6.8 yards per carry).
The Giants have been one of the most entertaining teams to watch in the league, despite their losing record. Jaxson Dart and Cam Skattebo made a dynamic duo for the G-Men, while Wandale Robinson has stepped into Malik Nabers’ role as WR 1 admirably since Nabers tore his ACL. Since taking over for Russell Wilson as the starter in Week 4 against the Los Angeles Chargers, Dart has passed for 1,175 yards, 10 touchdowns, and just three interceptions. While that was the case, Skattebo dislocated his ankle against the Philadelphia Eagles, and they’ve had to rely on Tyrone Tracy and Devin Singletary to fill in his role. The Giants’ defensive line has been as good as advertised, as their 7th in the league in sacks with 27.
This is the 64th all-time meeting between the Bears and Giants, with Chicago leading the series 36-25-2. The Bears have won three of the last five meetings between these two iconic NFL franchises, but it was the Giants who won the previous matchup, back on October 2, 2022, by a score of 20-12. Daniel Jones had two rushing touchdowns, while backup kicker Michael Badgley hit four field goals for the Bears. The last time Chicago claimed the W was back on January 2, 2022, in a dominating 29-3 win. Andy Dalton went 18/35 for 173 yards and a touchdown, while former Bears quarterback Mike Glennon started for the G-Men and threw two interceptions and was sacked four times.
