A warning has been issued to Everton fans leaving Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday after Liverpool Council announced a major road change. The Blues host Fulham in the Premier League in a 3pm kick off in their new home this weekend.
While the new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock has been well received overall, some have raised concerns about access to and from the ground, particularly around the road network. The city council found itself at loggerheads with businesses around the location earlier this year when it announced sweeping changes to parking regulations.
Now, new restrictions are being imposed from half-time during tomorrow’s game, with a temporary one-way system being put in place to direct traffic away from Regent Road. It is expected the changes will last for at least the rest of the month.
The one-way system is to be adopted around Blackstone Street and Boundary Street. After the match, traffic will also be held on Great Howard Street/Derby Road (A565) between the junctions of Blackstone Street and Boundary Street for up to 20 minutes.

Posting on social media, the city council said: “These measures are in place to ensure those leaving the ground can move away from the area quickly and safely. Please use alternative routes where possible to avoid delays to your journey.”
Issues around parking and access to the areas surrounding the Hill Dickinson Stadium have been hotly debated in its early months of operation. In September, that row continued after designated parking bays were removed in the area of Sandhills Lane – and replaced with double yellow lines.
Businesses based around the 52,000-seater arena have also criticised the city council over their handling of road closures during matchdays. Some have even considered closing their operations over how it is being managed.

In a series of posts confirming the road changes this weekend, the local authority wrote on social media: “The council is working closely with EFC, the Combined Authority, emergency services, and bus operators.
“Together, we are constantly reviewing traffic management to balance traffic flow and safe travel. These measures will be in place for at least the rest of November.”
According to the council’s guidance, Everton FC will implement road closures on a number of roads around the stadium on event days.
They will reserve the right to not permit vehicle entry to, or exit from, these roads on safety grounds.
