[Jarrod Bowen’s](https://www.claretandhugh.info/perfect-january-panic-buy-bowen-blueprint-offers-west-ham-striker-solution/) England career always seems to have suffered owing to the selection of Bukayo Saka ahead of him in his favoured right wing position: The Hammer is imperious in club form but cannot seem to get the nod to start ahead of his Arsenal competitor at international level. Unless Saka is injured, it seems that Bowen is destined to play second fiddle.
However after news of his call up once again to the England squad this week by Tomas Tuchel, one journalist in particular has been tipping Bowen for a new role in the England side which could, in effect, relaunch his England career.
Rob Dorsett on [Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/12098/13465615/england-squad-phil-foden-and-jude-bellingham-return-to-thomas-tuchels-squad-as-danny-welbeck-misses-out) claims there could be a shift following Tuchel’s latest squad announcement, omitting a back-up to Harry Kane:
“_Up front, it is a real surprise to see Ollie Watkins miss out, although I’m told that may be fitness-related..Tuchel has only one natural No 9 in his squad, in Harry Kane. Maybe that’s deliberate, so he can look at Marcus Rashford, Jarrod Bowen or even Anthony Gordon”_
Bowen has played with success as West Ham’s sole striker – now Sky Sports claim he could become Harry Kane’s back up

Closing in on West Ham’s all time Premier League goal scoring record held by Michail Antonio, Jarrod Bowen probably won’t care where he gets to play in an England side – as long as he makes the squad for the World Cup finals next summer, especially with his club side mired in the relegation zone at present.
And if he performs well in the up coming fixtures against Serbia (Thursday) and Albania (Sunday) then Bowen could perhaps steal a march on his competitors for that second striker role: If Dorsett is right it could even re-launch his England career.
