David Moyes makes Tyler Dibling statement ahead of Everton vs Fulham

David Moyes has finally shared what Tyler Dibling needs to do to get some minutes under his belt in the Everton starting XI.

Having made the move to Merseyside over the summer, it has proven difficult for Dibling to earn the trust of his 62-year-old manager on Merseyside.

Monday night was particularly damning, with Moyes choosing to select Dwight McNeil as Iliman Ndiaye’s replacement over the 19-year-old.

Jamie Carragher does not think Moyes trusts Dibling enough with the Toffees struggling to pick up points of late.

That seemed apparent at the Stadium of Light on Monday evening when the £35m summer signing was left to watch from the bench.

On Friday, Moyes tried to shed some light on the situation surrounding Dibling, but his answer may have caused even more confusion.

In recent weeks, it has been suggested that Dibling is impressing Everton staff during training at Finch Farm.

However, McNeil has seemingly done more to catch Moyes’ attention behind the scenes after he was given the nod on Monday evening.

Looking ahead to the game against Fulham on Saturday, Moyes shared exactly why Dibling has not played more minutes since he joined.

“Well, at the moment he’s got Iliman Ndiaye and Jack Grealish in front of him. So, that’s probably the reason why he’s finding it really difficult to break into the first team,” said Moyes.

“We want him to up his levels, up his training. When I first came here, Leighton Baines, John Stones, Joleon Lescott all had to sit and bide their time and wait for the right moments. That’s the way it is and I think for Tyler he’ll have to do that as well.”

Everton fans are beginning to worry about Dibling’s development, with the winger having played a mere 62 minutes of Premier League football this term.

Many will understand that Grealish and Ndiaye will always get the nod ahead of the youngster, but the McNeil substitution will have concerned a lot of people.

Dibling’s opportunity may come in Iliman Ndiaye’s absence

There is going to be a huge opportunity for Dibling to earn some minutes over the coming months when Ndiaye jets off for the Africa Cup of Nations.

Dibling wants to be one of the Premier League’s best players, but he needs to secure himself regular minutes if that is to be the case.

The spot at right wing is going to open up for him next month when Ndiaye departs alongside Idrissa Gana Gueye for their international duty.

Everton News columnist Alan Myers addressed Ndiaye’s long-term future earlier this week, and Moyes shut down any speculation of the winger leaving any time soon.

🎙️ DM: "Well I don't really see the speculation because I'm not looking."

"It would be wrong for teams not to talk about him because of his form. But we want to build with players like Ili. We've got no intentions of letting him go, that's for sure."

Dibling will need to take his opportunity in the side when Ndiaye departs if he is to have any chance of forcing his way into the XI on a regular basis.
