Moises Caicedo suggests Chelsea have a player who’s even better than Cole Palmer

Many Chelsea fans would argue that it is between Moises Caicedo and Cole Palmer for who is the best player at the club right now.

With the England international currently out injured, it has been Caicedo who has stepped up when the Blues have needed someone, adding goals to his already well-rounded game.

Jason Cundy even believes Caicedo is now more important than Palmer, however it has to be remembered just how little Chelsea are currently creating in front of goal without him.

After the major investment put into the side over the last few years, it is perhaps incredible that one of their best performers remains one of those who came through the club’s illustrious but often overlooked academy.

Moises Caicedo says Reece James is the best player he has played with

Reece James has enjoyed nearly a full year of being at full fitness again, and Chelsea are benefitting from Enzo Maresca’s patience in bringing him back into the fold.

Caicedo is very aware of how important he is to the club, and when asked by La Premier who was the best player he had ever played with, James came out on top.

This is despite him playing alongside the likes of Palmer, Enzo Fernandez and Marc Cucurella on a regular basis.

James has featured at times alongside Caicedo in the middle of the park as he built up his fitness again, and is now starting to contribute in the final third again.

James’ role as important off the pitch as on it

James’ role as captain is arguably more important at Stamford Bridge than at other clubs due to the lack of experience in the squad, including all the new players they continue to sign.

Estevao has praised James for helping him settle since his well-documented move from Brazil, and the electric start he has made reflects well on the skipper.

Being one of the few talented players to come through the academy to become a regular in the first team is praise itself in how good the right-back is, and his fitness will play a large part in the Blues achieving their goals this season.
