La Liga giants Real Madrid could welcome a sidelined member of the club’s defensive ranks back into the matchday fold this weekend.
This comes amid confirmation that David Alaba has returned to group training alongside the rest of Xabi Alonso’s squad.
Stopper Alaba has for his part been forced to sit out each of Real Madrid’s last four fixtures across all competitions.
Fresh off his return to fitness following a prior issue, the former Bayern Munich man then suffered another setback during a La Liga meeting with Getafe.
The calf problem in question has left Alaba unavailable for selection since.
But as alluded to above, on Friday, the Austrian took a significant step back towards his latest return.
As per a report from Blancos insider Guillermo Rai of The Athletic, Alaba ‘completed most of the session with the group’ at Valdebebas this morning.
Should the 33-year-old continue to train as normal on Saturday, he is therefore expected to be called up for Real Madrid’s trip to Rayo Vallecano a day later.
