Vikings Send Condolences to Family of Former Assistant Coach Tom Batta

Batta's personal touch and knowledge of the game made his players better, regardless of the position he coached, and left a lasting impression. Under his tutelage, kicker Fuad Reveiz became the first Vikings player to earn NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his game at Tampa Bay (Oct. 30, 1994) when he went 5-for-5 on field goals and scored 18 points. Reveiz earned his lone Pro Bowl berth in '94 playing under Batta.

"Tom was an incredible human being. He was so kind, super funny and truly cared for his players," Reveiz said. "He was the best special teams coach I had in professional football. His quick wit and humor is what I will miss the most."

Batta was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who cherished time with his wife, Liz; sons Jeff and Tom and adored six grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 14 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Farmington.
