The club pause is around the corner, taking place from 9-17 November, with England now calling up their squads for the fixture.
For many Reds fans, it’s an annoying break to club football, especially with Arne Slot’s men now starting to win football matches again.
Luckily, it will be the last time there will be two separate international breaks in October and November in the Premier League calendar – at least for a while.
The FIFA Council unanimously approved to merge September and October international windows into a single, extended break lasting 16 days from next season.
As was the case, in October, no senior Liverpool players were called up to Thomas Tuchel’s sqaud for this month, with Curtis Jones in and out of the Reds team with injury last month.
However, manager Ben Futcher has called up Liverpool defender Amara Nallo to his under-20 squad.
The 18-year-old academy graduate has made two appearances for Liverpool so far, but unfortunately, the teenager holds an unwanted record for the Merseyside giants.
In his senior debut vs PSV in the Champions League last term, Nallo was handed a straight red card in the defeat.
In the Carabao Cup against Crystal Palace last month, Nallo was sent off just 12 minutes after being substituted on for bringing down Palace’s Justin Devenny, who was through on goal.
That’s two red cards in just 16 minutes of senior action, and he became the first Liverpool player to be dismissed in his first two games for the club.
Hopefully, the call-up comes as a well-timed confidence boost for the teenager, who is among the youngest players in the squad this month.
Nallo and the Three Lions face Japan at Doncaster Rovers’ Eco-Power Stadium on Friday, November 14 (7:30pm kick-off).
Japan is fresh off competing at the U20 World Cup in Chile this past October – a tournament their English counterparts did not even qualify for.
The Samurai Blue enjoyed a respectable tournament by reaching the round of 16, having topped their opening group before succumbing to eventual finalists France in the knockout stages.
Ben Futcher has named his U20 #YoungLions squad to face Japan later this month 🇯🇵
