Real Madrid defender David Alaba rejoined the group in Friday’s training session and is on track to make his return to the squad list for Sunday’s match at Vallecas against Rayo Vallecano. Alaba has just recovered from a calf injury he picked up during Real’s win against Getafe on October 19th.
The Austrian defender has mostly been outside of Xabi Alonso’s rotation this season, and he appears to be behind all Eder Militao, Dean Huijsen and Raúl Asencio in the depth chart, so he won’t be expected to get relevant minutes even with Antonio Rudiger or Aurelien Tchouameni out with injuries.
Furthermore, this upcoming match against Rayo Vallecano will be the last before a two-week FIFA break, so Xabi Alonso will likely decide not to make many rotations in this one knowing that Rayo Vallecano are always very tough to beat when they play in front of their home fans.
