DeMario Douglas Gives One-Word Answer On Drake Maye’s MVP Chances

Drake Maye has played like one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL this season, and his teammate, wide receiver DeMario Douglas, believes Maye has a real chance at winning MVP.

Douglas appeared on WEEI’s “The Greg Hill Show” on Friday morning, where the hosts posed the question of whether Maye [is the MVP](https://x.com/TheGregHillShow/status/1986787164135318007) so far this season.

“Yes,” Douglas said. “That’s my quarterback, definitely, yes, it feels like it’s our job to help him get there. I would be excited if he wins the MVP in his second year.”

Maye is definitely on track to be a legitimate MVP candidate at the end of the season with 2,285 passing yards, 17 touchdowns to only four interceptions in nine games. However, Maye’s most important accomplishment is guiding New England to a 7-2 start.

If the Patriots continue winning games and position themselves for the No. 1 or 2 seed in the AFC, there’s a good chance that if Maye maintains his impressive performance, he could snag the MVP award.

As of Friday, FanDuel lists Maye with the [second-shortest odds](https://sportsbook.fanduel.com/navigation/nfl?tab=awards) to win MVP at +400, trailing only Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, who is at +160. Maye already beat Allen earlier this season in Week 5, and if he pulls off another victory against him in Week 15, Maye could surge ahead in the MVP race.
