'Bread and butter': Paul Merson predicts a tough day ahead for Newcastle United as they take on …

**Newcastle United are on their travels again in the Premier League this weekend as Brentford play host to the misfiring Toon live on Sky Sports, kick-off is at 2 pm.**

The Magpies are absolutely desperate for a win on the road after blowing what was their easiest chance to do so last weekend.

Going into last Sunday's game at West Ham, the Hammers had not won at home since February, and they came away 3-1 winners over Newcastle, who remain winless on the road in the Premier League this season.

Brentford beat Newcastle 4-2 on their home turf last season, so we are already on the back foot going into this one.

Paul Merson isn't giving Newcastle much of a chance

Paul Merson has also made a very big point about Brentford's home form in his prediction for [Sportskeeda](https://www.sportskeeda.com/football/news-paul-merson-predicts-manchester-city-vs-liverpool-premier-league-gw11-fixtures), which Newcastle fans aren't going to like.

> "It was a terrible result for Newcastle against West Ham last weekend. They kept the ball but never looked like scoring too many times. It's a shame because I thought they were starting to find some rhythm and then that loss has now set them back."Brentford away is one of the toughest fixtures in this league. Aston Villa, Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool have all played Brentford away and only City won. This is bread and butter for Brentford and Newcastle's away form is actually quite woeful. I'm backing the hosts for a win.

It's not looking good for Newcastle

The odds seem very highly stacked against us for this one, we're not going to lie.

However, as we keep saying, things have to start clicking for us on the road at some point, and there's no time like the present.

It does feel, though, that we're just going to have to grin and bear it on Sunday.
