Nov. 7 (UPI) -- Former Atlanta Falcons kicker Younghoe Koo is expected to kick for the New York Giants in Week 10, coach Brian Daboll told reporters Friday.
Giants kicker Graham Gano experienced neck discomfort last week. He told reporters Thursday that a doctor told him he had a herniated disc in his neck, which is pressing against his spinal cord.
Gano made 1 of 2 field goal attempts and all three of his extra point attempts in a 34-24 loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday in East Rutherford, N.J.
The Giants kicker, who did not practice Wednesday or Thursday, said he hoped to practice Friday, but missed his third-consecutive session.
Daboll said he plans to see how Gano feels after practice before deciding on if he will travel with the team for their Week 10 matchup with the Chicago Bears. He also said "it's looking like" Koo will replace Gano for the meeting.
"I would assume it's going to be Koo, but like we always do every Friday, I think I've said every Friday we meet after practice, sit down, discuss where everybody's at," Daboll said.
"So, they'll be in there with him in the training room and see where he's at."
Daboll did not rule out an injured reserve placement for Gano, who made 9 of 10 field goal attempts and 9 of 9 extra point attempts through five appearances this season.
The Falcons released Koo in September. He signed with the Giants practice squad four days later.
Koo, a 2020 Pro Bowl selection, made 2 of 3 field goal attempts and 2 of 2 extra point attempts in one appearances for the Falcons earlier this season. He made 73.5% of his field goals and 26 of 26 extra point attempts in 2024 for the Falcons.
The Bears (5-3) will host the Giants (2-7) at 1 p.m. EST Sunday in Chicago.
